God gave me my voice. It isn't for singing, but I am (slowly) learning that it's for speaking my heart (and speaking up). I sometimes think it would be easier to have that magical voice that can sing perfectly, that understands those funny looking notes on a page, or can hear what came and what is to come in a piece of music.
I often question why God gave me my voice.
Why is it that I do speak up, say the things that are on my heart that I can see need saying? If I was to sing, would I be so hard on myself? Would I question myself so much? I wrestle with this daily and I mean every. single. day.
Should I say that? Should I have been silent?
Do
I ever regret what I say? Most of the time I don't regret what I say,
but sometimes I definitely feel that the way I said something wasn't
helpful or was misunderstood (severely).
Do I wish that someone else would be the one to have my voice rather than me? Absolutely.
God gave me the voice. It is something that He uses in me and through me, whether or not I want it to be that way, it is.
Acknowledging what my voice was the first step for me. I am
realising now that I don't need to apologise for it. I can see that it is
there for a reason. Now that I recognise it, I need to refine it, just like those that sing...
with a lot of practice. A. lot. Of. Practice.
Reality
is that sometimes I won't hit the right note, whilst other times I will
be on song. I read the verses in Proverbs and I hear the warnings of
the tongue, the voice. At the same time, I can see the blessing that
having this voice has...
Proverbs 13: 3 "He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin."
Proverbs 15: 2 "The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly."
